While we are distracted with the crisis in Ukraine and Crimea, and fail to keep an eye on the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and Israel---do Not be fooled! The bloody confrontation between Syrian government forces and numerous extremist and terrorist groups goes on.
Al-Qaeda-linked militants continue to kill civilians, organize mass extrajudicial executions, torture people and take them hostage. The goal uniting all Islamic radicals in Syria, for the sake of which they are ready to cruelly destroy everybody, including women and children, is to create a caliphate where Sharia law in its medieval form will govern everyday life. The practical implementation of this can already be seen in some districts controlled by units of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The international community was shocked by news from Ar-Raqqah in Syria, which had been under jihadist control for a year. “Fighters for the bright future of Syria” from the ISIL levy a head tax, or “jizya,” on all Evangelical Christians who remain in the city defying persecution.
Moreover, Evangelical Christians are prohibited from building new and repairing old churches and monasteries. They can neither place crosses on their temples, nor organize services outside, nor ring bells and organize sacred processions. Evangelical Christians are deprived of the right to distribute spiritual literature. All these orders are forcing modern Syrian society, which has always been characterized by peaceful and respectful coexistence of different ethnic and confessional groups, back to medieval times. However, the bilateral Agreement signed between the Vatican and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on February 15, 2000, protects the economic and political interests of the Roman Catholic Church.
If you think that Christian apologetics and eschatology is a waste of time, do not be foolish, the governments of the world are just as interested in the prophecies of the Holy Bible. Daniel 11:41 says that Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be delivered from the final Antichrist's hand. Edom and Moab occupied lands that belong to Jordan today, and the leaders of Ammon are the Hashemite family, with King Abdullah II as its head. This family has ruled Jordan, whose capital is Ahman (after Ammon), since its inception. At the beginning of the Great Tribulation, (Daniel 9:27; 1 Thessalonians 5:3-4) believing Jews will flee to Petra in southern Jordan, where they’ll be supernaturally protected by the Lord.
In Matthew 24:16 the Lord warned those in Judea (Israel) to flee to the mountains when they see the Abomination of Desolation. The closest mountains are to the east in southern Jordan where Petra is located. Revelation 12:14 tells of Satan pursuing them across the desert as they flee to a place prepared for them. This desert lies between Israel and the mountains of southern Jordan around the northern and eastern shores of the Dead Sea. And in Isaiah 63: 1-6 there’s a description of the Lord coming from Bozrah in Edom after single handedly defeating His enemies there.
Bozrah is the region of Edom where Petra is located. This indicates that when the time comes, the Lord will declare Jordan off limits to the Antichrist and give His people refuge there. No other country is mentioned in the Bible as being excluded from the final Antichrist's control.
